‘Barbie’ has Banned in Algeria Three Weeks Later

Barbie has banned in Algeria; government source confirms restriction.

According to the authorized source, the Barbie movie “promotes homosexuality and other Western deviances” and “does not comply with religious and cultural beliefs.”

Barbie and Ken, played by Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, go on an adventure in the real world in this film produced by Mattel Inc. (MAT.O).

Since its release on July 21, the movie has surpassed $1 billion in worldwide box office receipts.

Both Kuwait and Lebanon have also outlawed the movie.

The Algerian Ministry of Culture controls the content of movies screened in theaters and has the authority to prevent their presentation.
