Bloodstock Festival Set to Welcome Thousands

Bloodstock festival: Tens of thousands of metal fans expected 4 days.

Visitors attending the Bloodstock Festival are urged to wear pink in remembrance of Sylvia Lancaster, who started a foundation to fight hate crimes after her daughter Sophie was killed.

At Catton Park, Derbyshire, till Sunday, acts like Killswitch Engage, Meshuggah, and Megadeth will perform.

In preparation for the event, National Highways has halted the A38’s overnight road closures through Staffordshire.

There are four distinct stages at the festival, one of which is the Sophie Lancaster stage.

Because she was wearing a gothic costume, Sophie was murdered in Bacup, Lancashire, in 2007. Her age was twenty.

In order to encourage alternative subcultures, her mother Sylvia launched the Sophie Lancaster Foundation and continued her advocacy for years following.

After Ms. Lancaster’s passing in April 2022, Bloodstock Festival continued to urge attendees to honor her by wearing pink on the event’s Thursday and Friday. Ms. Lancaster had asked that everyone wear something pink to her burial, and she had also requested that everyone wear something pink for her.

Between the festival entrance and Tamworth railway station, a formal shuttle bus service will also run until Monday.

It is recommended that drivers use their satellite navigation systems to get to the festival rather than the signs.
