Jimmy Buffett: Margaritaville singer dies aged 76

“Jimmy Buffett”, known for “Margaritaville,” has passed away at 76.

Jimmy Buffett passed away quietly on the evening of September 1st, surrounded by his family, friends, music, and dogs, according to a statement posted to his website and social media accounts on Saturday (2 September).

“He will be sorely missed by so many and lived his life like a song until the very last breath.”

The announcement omitted the location of Buffett’s death and his cause of death.

Before going to Nashville, where he took a job at Billboard magazine and attempted to break into the music industry, Mississippi-born Buffet first began playing guitar on the streets of New Orleans.

He achieved success in 1977 when his beach-themed song “Margaritaville” propelled him to prominence. Over the years. It gave rise to a number of commercial ventures for him, including a resort, retirement communities, a restaurant chain. A beer brand all of which contributed to his emergence as a billionaire.

“Margaritaville” is a laid-back portrayal of a slacker who is sitting on his front porch while boiling a batch of shrimp while observing tourists who are drenched in oil.

The track, which is from the album Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes, spent 22 weeks and reached its highest position of No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

His 1989 bestseller Tales from Margaritaville and other books were also influenced by it.

Over the years, Buffet was a fixture on late-night television. He even briefly worked as an actor, making appearances in films like 2015’s Jurassic World and television programs like Blue Bloods and Hawaii Five-O.

Fans adored the constantly travelling performer for his carefree demeanor and upbeat spirit. Because they wore headgear with parrot themes to his concerts, his ardent followers are known as Parrot Heads.

Over the course of his 50-year career, Buffet has had hits with “Come Monday” and “Cheeseburger in Paradise”.

He postponed shows earlier this year after receiving treatment in a hospital for an unidentified illness.

Cameron, Savannah, Sarah, and Jane Slagsvol, Buffett’s three children, survive him.
